Happy Christmas! From Stone Porch Cottage…..

Christmas season 2020 has been both weird and wonderful. Many lovely traditions cancelled or modified to the point of , “Why bother?”. I’m sorry but virtual Nutcracker does nothing for me. The same goes for a “skype” cookie exchange!! Call me a Scrooge or a party pooper but there it is… That all being said, there have been many nice things to enjoy this season. Friends to enjoy and loved ones to be together with. Life is always a privilege and a blessing even when there are challenges. Christ’s birth is celebrated with or without the other trappings of the holiday as fun and diverting as they may be.

Here are a few pics of my home all decorated for Christmas. May you find joy in the glory of Christ’s birth. Today and all the year through! Blessings to your and yours! From , mimi and himself

Our cozy bed all dressed up for Christmas. Flannel sheets don’t show in this pic but were a super bargain from Walmart. They have a wintery pattern with pinecones and greenery and are quite generously sized and soft too. Duvet and shams are from Target, shabby chic. I really like their bedding. pretty to look at as well as reasonably priced and nice quality. The big Tibetan lamb’s wool pillows, the plaid throw, and the Christmas pillows are all Costco (of course!)
Dining table set and ready. Dishes are, Winter Greetings every day, from Lenox. I’ve used them for many years during the holidays and love them. Silver plate is called, Moss Rose. It belonged to my grandmother. The candlesticks belonged to my great grandmother and came down to me from my mother. The vintage tablecloth is one of many I’ve collected.
Old pine cabinet where I keep my dishes. Himself painted it and antique waxed it for me this year. I love how it turned out.
These are the single Santa pics of himself and me during our first Christmas in 1956 and 1963. The little hanging ornament was something I picked up at a Christmas outdoor market in Barcelona last year.
The “pink tree”. I alternate between 2 different trees every other year. This is the year of the pink, fairy princess, tea party, tree. Love it …

Our precious nativity scene. Costco’s version from 20ish years ago.
Our big nutcrackers. They are so beat up and disreputable. Every year we promise to fix them up next year. This year I did replace their hair and beards. Perhaps next year, they’ll get a little more tlc..

Sofa in the snug. Made these super simple pillow covers with a bit of remnant fabric I picked up at the joann’s fabric store. I love to check out the various fabric stores for what they have in the scrap bin. It gives me lots of pretty choices when I want to sew something up.
Tiny tree in guest bathroom. Tiny ornaments include Hallmark collection of “kiddie car classics” that I got for my children when they were young but now, have commandeered them for myself!
Little Santa collection on dresser in guest room.
